"The best way to predict the future is to create it." - Peter Drucker.

What is a movement, and why is it important to your business? Movements create an identity for a cause. It’s the act of moving people from one mindset to a different way of thinking. Those who lead movements are thought leaders.

Thought leaders are the experts in their field. If you have a business that creates a service or product in a way that produces outstanding results, most likely it’s not because you are doing whatever other business like yours does.

What it does mean is that you have spent a lot of time in trial and error to get your product or service to outstanding results. Why not capitalize on your expertise and become the leader in your area? Hold seminars and trainings that cause potential customers to choose you over your competition.

I know what you might be thinking if you do this. “Why would I give my secrets a way if I’m so good at what I do?” Here’s the thing. You don’t have to share every trade secrets you have worked so hard to create. You only share enough so that your potential customers can see how you are different. So, what if some other company becomes a copycat? They still aren’t you and have not earned the right to become a specialist in your field.

Sure, you have trade secrets that you have created. You have proprietary processes that make your service or product better than anything else on the market. Showcase just enough of them to show what makes your company different.

Start a passionate movement in your market niche, and if you want to grow big, nobody is stopping you from appointing yourself the expert in your particular corner of the universe. You don’t need anyone’s approval. And if you think you do…then, “I give you permission.” So go for it.

Most likely, there are people in your niche who are looking for the kind of thing you do, so take charge and assume the leadership position, create your own movement, and make it as big as you want it to be.

Once you become the leader and you are in charge of your part of the universe you get all sorts of perks. You can get free TV and radio ads by being interviewed for your expertise. You can get free press releases by being published in magazines and newspapers.

Like I said earlier, you can organize gatherings and events. Since you are the expert, you could be in high demand. You can educate them and nurture a lifetime relationship with them. This is what forms the basis for your movement.

You become the architect for your movement and your niche within your market. You set trends and expectations. When you do this, you make it very hard for your competition to compete with you.

As a thought leader in your space start thinking and making your guidelines: “What are the things that I stand for? What is my mission?”

You can only go big when your focus is narrow. You do this by eliminating everything that doesn’t align with your purpose and mission.

For example, my mission is to help business owners and leader reach their 3-year goals. That’s it. It’s a very narrow focus.

You must become the thought leader in your corner of the universe. And nobody can make you one except you. So, get started now.

If you need help, let me know.

All the best,

Alex
